Meet Linda A. Jerome

Hello! I am a pre-med Human Biology & Psychology double major alumna from the University of California, Merced aspiring to pursue a career in medicine.

During my middle schools years, I was introduced to various types of paints and found a new love for art through the acrylic medium. I practiced landscape painting and built my way up to the oils once I got to high school and took an introductory art class. In my university years, I found inspiration in Bob Ross' painting tutorials and started to follow his techniques. After graduating university, my sisters and I planned on making the most of our hobbies/talents and putting it to good use. We came up with the idea of selling our artwork and donating all proceeds to pediatric cancer research.

The pediatric cancer research field was my capstone project when I was formerly in the PLTW Biomedical Sciences program in high school. My love for children and medicine led me to dedicate my final year of high school to raising funds for pediatric cancer research and raising awareness on how under-funded and under-researched the field is. Through the capstone project we were able to raise roughly $2000 which went towards research and supplies for the UCSF Benioff's pediatric cancer ward.

Meet Ashley L. Jerome

Hello! I'm currently a pre-med health scholars student majoring in Human Biology at the University of California, Merced.

Throughout my high school experience, I was a part of the PLTW Biomedical pathway and had been a teacher's assistant in my third-year of the program where I learned several concepts and lab skills that further increased my desire to pursue a career in medicine. In my last year of the program, I aimed to spread awareness on body image disorder where I used several platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Spotify to discuss various topics on body image. I had gained thorough experience in promoting and advertising through social media and plan to contribute those skills to our mission of helping pediatric cancer.

In my senior year at high school, I had taken a ceramics class where I was given a lot of freedom to use my creativity in all of my products. Because of my dedication and aim for improvement, I would come home with several ceramics products ranging from teacup sets to aquatic sceneries. House guests would constantly ask about where we had bought these ceramic pieces and I would inform them that they were made by me in school. This appreciation encouraged me to not only continue ceramics upon graduating but also develop my skills further and contribute to medicine.

Meet Sharon R. Jerome

Hi! I am a current high school student interested in pediatrics and neurology. My spark for interest in medicine started in my fourth grade year when I sat with my older siblings and tried to learn their science content that they were studying. I vividly remember learning about action potentials and being fascinated of how intricate the nervous system can be. Following in my sisters' footsteps I am also part of the PLTW Biomedical program and find joy in learning advanced science in school.

My love for art developed when I was only 6 years old. Drawing was something I found meditative. During the pandemic I started to dabble in painting and used every day to advance my painting skills. After hours and hours of watching painting technique tutorials and educating myself on color theory, I self-built my art skills. In about 2 years time I had produced over 60 pieces of acrylic art, each one improving in dimension and technique. With paintings filling the walls of my house and shelves of the garage, I was given the nickname, Micheal Angelo, in my household. Lately, I have been taking on a new challenge, oil painting. Oil painting takes weeks to dry, but it is well worth the patience and time.

Meet Abigail T. Jerome

I am the baby of the family despite being the "tallest."  Although I aspire to be an engineer, when I heard of my older sisters' idea of helping children's' health with art, I just knew that this is something I want to be a part of.

I have always been inspired by my older sisters and have shown my own hand in creativity through comics and writing. I will be aiding my sisters in their art processes.
